Red String of Fate (拉红线)
Nestled Ellipsis
The Red String of Fate is an old story in an East Asian belief originating from a Chinese legend about a magical connection between two people that are tied together by the gods connected by an invisible red string. These two people are destined to develop a great friendship, fall in love, or help each other in some way regardless of time, place or circumstance. The red thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break. This belief is a reminder that relationships with people whom we are destined to be with will continuously change, fall apart, evolve, and improve, and that is okay - we are connected, nevertheless.
In this design, we played with the idea of the "invisible" red string of fate and depict it using a red thread strung through the card and the Chinese character "囍" which means double happiness. May the red string of fate not only bring two people together - may it also lead to a relationship that bloom into one that last a lifetime of happiness.
Accordion Card
This is an accordion card - it is a hybrid-cross between a letter and a post card. At times, we like to send a message - not as long as a letter but not as short as a postcard too. Something in between...
The accordion card fills this gap perfectly. It is as compact as a postcard yet when the accordion card is stretch out, it provides the writer an extended space to pen his/her message(s).
